"Just when it seemed the Red Sox weren't going to be able to find a deal for star slugger Manny Ramirez, they have reportedly dealt the right-handed hitting run producer to the Los Angeles Dodgers. SI.com reported the news. The Boston Globe also reported that the Red Sox had traded Ramirez, but didn't say where. Rumblings are that Jason Bay is in fact going from Pittsburgh to Boston to make it a three-way deal.
Details to come. "

I don't understand the Dodgers need to get rid of Kemp, if that's who goes. Torre's influencing this club to be the Yankees circa 2002-present.

The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions. Is your league H2H? Roto? I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from. If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters. I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

And I think the Pirates actually have made a great trade for the first time in recent memory if they get Kemp.

The problem is this mentality to win now at all costs when you're giving up something that is better than what you're getting -- right now. Forget in the future. Manny's that much better than either of these guys right now? They should've got Tex and now they're battling the Angels for TV time. It's sad actually.

Okay, I take back partially what I said about the Pirates making a good trade and some of my venom towards the Dodgers because it looks like the Pirates are only going to get minor leaguers.

Kemp is staying put. Los Doyers love getting high-priced studs who don't hustle. (See Sheffield, Gary)
I remember being in the stands for a few games and the theme was "C'mon, Gary! Run those out! Hustle!"
But you're right about the TV time. If the Angels don't make that Tex-Mex trade, the Dodgers don't go fer Manny. Now it's "Ned being Ned," no ?

Is this the deal?
Manny to LA
Bay to BOS
"Pittsburgh gets pitcher Craig Hansen and outfielder Brandon Moss, both from Boston, as well as third baseman Andy LaRoche and right-handed pitcher Bryan Morris from the Dodgers." (si.com)
So the Dodgers didn't get rid of either Ethier or Kemp? I would have liked the Dodgers to keep LaRoche and give him more time as a starter, but this looks okay for the Dodgers, at least if they don't raise ticket prices again to pay Manny's salary. Perhaps the Dodgers have to retain an average player age over 35...

Yeah, haven't seen anything about Kemp in the deal. Just what the Dodgers needed... more OF? Manny, Jones, Pierre, Ethier and Kemp. Sounds like a mess.

That looks like the specifics of the deal, yeah.
The Dodgers should've got Tex. Manny just fills an already competent outfield.
EDIT: Yeah, what you said, Peter.
