With the three-way deal between the Pirates, Red Sox, and Marlins falling through, an MLB.com source says that the Rays are going to acquire right-handed hitting outfielder Jason Bay for Minor League prospects including shortstop Reid Brignac and right-hander Jeff Niemann. The Rays have not confirmed the deal.

I think the Rays are too stingy with their prospects, but I'd love to see them upgrade.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Agreed. Though I'd like to see Dunn there before Bay. Dunn's 196 homers and 510+ walks are the most by any player over the last 5 years.

I think this is the perfect trade for the Rays...it gives them a very good right handed hitter in the middle of their lineup thru 2009. Their farm system is absolutely loaded, and you can't fault them for going for it.

I've read good things about the SS Brignac, but I really like how Jason Bartlett fits into their team with great speed and defense.

Lineup will look like...???

Iwamura 2B
Crawford LF
Bay RF
Pena 1B
Longoria 3B
Upton CF
Hinske/Gomes DH
Navarro C
Bartlett SS

With Kaz and Sheilds spearheading the rotation, I am a believer.

The Monkees came to my head when I read the last of your post... THANKS!

With the 4 p.m. ET Trade Deadline past, a baseball source in Tampa Bay confirmed that no deal was struck between the Rays and Pirates to send Jason Bay to Tampa Bay in exchange for prospects.

While there remains the possibility that another team could have snuck in an offer before 4 p.m., it appears right now that Bay is staying in Pittsburgh. No other substantial offers were known to be on the table.

Yeah, I read that nothing is going down with Bay to the Rays "unless a miracle happens."

A reported trade of Bay to Tampa Bay did not materialize and a three-way deal between the Pirates, Marlins and Red Sox that would have sent Manny Ramirez to Florida also failed to develop, MLB.com reports.

Bay will stay with the Pirates the rest of the season and Pittsburgh may look to trade him this offseason.

After all the talks about Bay heading to Tampa Bay or Boston, it appears that the Dodgers may have landed the Pirates left fielder just prior to the 4 p.m. ET deadline.

MLB.com has confirmed that they were a late player in the race for Bay and that it was L.A. One industry source in Pittsburgh believes that a deal between the two clubs has been made.

Stay here for more details.
