Scraping the bottom of the barrel for a catcher...

Postby mapwheel » Sat Mar 27, 2010 4:25 pm

I punted catcher. Punted it like nobody's business! Grabbed Jesus Flores, but he's headed to the DL to start the season, and I don't feel like stashing a catcher on the DL, so here is what's left in my 18 man league.

Carlos Ruiz
Ramon Hernandez
Dioner Navarro/Kelly Shoppach (wouldn't mind a split-squad guy if he has a clear offensive upside in limited AB's)
Jarred SaltaRalphMacchio

I've also been keeping an eye on Jeff Clement's spring development, and right now the feeling is the pirates are "leaning" towards starting him at first base. That's a pretty good sign you're terrible if you can't even play first base for the Pirates.

So which one of these guys makes you want to vomit the least? I'm leaning towards Ramon Hernandez; simply because the power/RBI potential seems okay, but I also know he has an injury history. I just want the Ron Popeil of catchers: "Set it and forget it!"

Yeah, Ramon is probably your best bet for now.
