Hey,

I've just started visiting Razzball for about a month now and it has a lot of good, useful information. Thanks.

One thing I've noticed, though, is on most columns there are a significant amount of questions that are largely irrelevant to the subject matter. For example, you have a column on Ellsbury and there are nearly 300 comments, many of which don't address Ellsbury at all. Instead it's just random team questions. Even the Brantley one just posted, where the very first comment has nothing to do with him!

Shouldn't these posts be better placed in the forums? Isn't that the point of having a forum? As someone who would primarily read a column because of the subject, it's a bit annoying to have to go through all those other random posts just to read a few that are actually relevant.

Thoughts?

It's something I've wondered for my time on Razzball as well. The likelihood of getting the question answered by Grey seems higher here anyways.

Yep, but not just Grey responding other users as well (I'm sure there are plenty of knowledgeable people on here). It keeps things focused and you can get a good discussion going. It also would help grow the forums to the point of becoming a main access point, in addition to the articles. The structure is there, it just need more contributions.

As it stands, it seems a bit disjointed. This is coming from an early user trying to be constructive. Would be interested to see what Grey, Rudy etc think about it.

I think most readers of the blog might not want to go through the efforts of registering, etc.

The other problem I see is that the comments section of each article basically turns in to a free-for-all.

Grey will post an article about X Sleeper player, but 95% of the comments are discussions about which 2 of these 3 keepers should I hold on to?

If Grey and the gang forced random questions like that to the forum, we would probably get more activity.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Yep, I understand that and agree, people should come on here if they want help from others. I'm curious - again I'm new so don't know the history - has there ever been encouragement to come on here? Did the site start with columns and then the forum was added? Do people mainly ask questions to get a response from you, or from anyone else?

I'm just wondering about the level of community here, where people could actively help each other out. Perhaps that's not the case for the majority, but curious on whether you'd prefer more people using the forums and less people asking those questions in the columns. Wouldn't you want a more focused discussion on the column topic?

I'm impressed with the coverage on here and lately find myself coming on here daily. I just thought I'd add my two cents on how the column discussions could be better (more focused) and perhaps encourage more involvement on here.

What would be a really cool functionality is embedding the comments section into posts. As threads spawn, their own forum post is created. Individual comments that are not replied to don't get their own post generated. Threads would then not seemingly die once the article becomes just a few days old

Forums were built after the site was already going... I tell people to come here and talk but can't force 'em...

I happily cede to others to answer, but a lot of times even if the question was answered just as I would people ask for my opinion...

I honestly don't mind if people ask questions in the comments section of the blog posts, doesn't bother me either way... But I welcome others helping others...

That would be cool, but I'm not a computer guy and don't know if it's possible or how to do it...
