Pavano, or Pava-yes?

Postby Hardcore Midget » Wed May 27, 2009 12:45 pm

Totally cribbing Grey's joke from earlier.

But what do we make of Carl Pavano so far this year?

The overall line right now is ugly- 5.50 ERA, 1.42 WHIP.
But his peripherals looks pretty solid so far- 46 Ks, 13 BB in 55.2 IP. 7.44 K/9, 3.54 K/BB.

And if you take away his first start at Texas, when he got bombed for 9 ER, it makes the ERA a much more palatable 4.12.

I'm not expecting Pavano to ever revert to his 2004 form, but is it possible he becomes a decent FA pick up as a back end of the rotation starter?

Hard to say without knowing your league depth (you can put your team in your signature), but I wouldn't pick him up outside of matchups.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Added the team to my signature.

My pitching has been terrible all season. I've been suffering through Manny Parra, Nolasco, and a whole bunch of other bums.

With Uehara hitting the DL, I have an open roster spot and was wondering about Pavano.
I also have a waiver claim in for Gil Meche, dropping Joe Nelson.

Thanks!

I'd want Meche over Pavano, but if you have room I could see grabbing Carl.
