UMMM Upton, ahh Heyward Bryce

Postby agilejro » Fri Mar 01, 2013 8:43 pm

All these guys possess possible 5 tools or above average 5 tools maybe not so much SB but what are the chances this bryce or heyward actually outplay Upton. Any discussion here would be great.

I think Grey is thinking that the chance of Upton getting to his numbers is path of least resistence becuase Harper and Hey are both young, Harper ultra young and Hey has had some injuries....Am I missing anything

Heyward is heading into his 3rd season. At this point he's not young young. Given the potential he showed, sure maybe he blossoms into an elite outfielder (also provided he stays healthy), but I would still take Bryce or Upton over him.

Harper, like you said, is young young, and that makes him tough to predict. Look at what Heyward did his first season, and then what he did thereafter.

You called both Harper, and Heyward young. What do you call Upton at age 25? It's more than possible that we haven't seen anything close to his full potential. He could touch high 30s, or 40, homeruns. We know he has 20 SB potentials in his yaps, as well. Given his edge in experience over the other two, and the great upside he provides, why wouldn't you want him over the others?

Don't forget, it wasn't too long ago that Heyward was Bryce, and Upton was Heyward, in terms of prospect hype.

Good thoughts, good analysis. Thanks
