I've had it. Thought I was some genius getting Ryan Zimmerman straight up for Lance Lynn about a month ago. Now I wish I'd kept Lynn. Zimmerman has been such a phenomenal letdown, he's making Justin Upton, Teixeira, Michael Young, and Jay Bruce look good to me.

It's a 10 teamer and the wire has guys like Seager, Headley, Trev Plouffe on it. I've slowly been taking it up my pujols the past month or so on batting stats and Zimmerman has been at the forefront on that. I was considering dumping Michael Young but he has 2b eligibility and I may need him in the future since I'm so badly BA challenged. And with Longoria coming back hopefully in the next couple weeks I should be okay at 3B.

I've tried trading Zimm....nobody wants him. I'm guessing he doesn't get picked up either since Seager is still sitting there.

Anyway, I'm dumping Zimm for Trevor Bauer who is still on our WW but won't be for long.

Thoughts? Am I crazy?

I wouldn't do it... But I understand your frustration... Tyler Moore is out playing him and he has 150 less ABs.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Would you drop Michael Young instead then? I need to pick up Bauer and want to keep a SP spot open to potentially stream.....Kuroda's spot currently on my roster is that stream position.

I have been going back and forth on this arseface, too. I just hate flat out dropping anyone I drafted within the first five rounds (actually, I hate doing that for anyone in the first nine rounds). I also feel like he may turn it on after the ASB, and he may finish with 25/15. Ugh, that isn't very exciting.

25/15? Is that his total RBI/HR's?

I traded for the guy in the 2nd half last year too. He was pretty yawnstipating. I can see him being more valuable in a larger league, but I'm getting beat up by other guys in my league who are just picking up the hot hitters.

25 hits, 15 RBI. :?

Really, if he gives us 5 homers per month starting July 1st, I can live with that. Really, though, I'm probably not going to ever move him off my bench unless he goes on a tear, and I can't see that happening...so the question remains, why keep him?

The problem with Zimmerman is that despite all the hype, all the years of being drafted in the top 4 rounds, etc. how many truly good seasons has he given us?

I'd say one.

When you look at his stats:

2006 - 20 HR, 110 RBI, .287 BA
2007 - 24 HR, 91 RBI, .266 BA
2008 - 14 HR, 51 RBI, .283 BA
2009 - 33 HR, 106 RBI, .292 BA
2010 - 25 HR, 85 RBI, .307 BA
2011 - 12 HR, 49 RBI, .289 BA

Ok... I see one season of more than 25 HRs. I see two seasons of 100+ RBI. I see one season with an average over .300. And yet according to MockdraftCentral and Fantasygameday, he was drafted 44th overall in 2012, 17th overall in 2011, and 30th overall in 2010.

I drafted Zimmerman in at least two leagues last year, so I'm just as guilty of this, but why are we paying top round money for a guy that's only given top round value once in his career? Obviously '06, '07, and '10 are still pretty good years at a somewhat weak position, but a few .285 BA with 25 HR's and 90 RBI guys are usually available even past the 10th round every year.
So far it looks like people would have been better off risking drafting Mike Moustakas this year rather than drafting Zimmerman so early and that's frustrating.

I hate dropping anybody drafted in the top 7 or 8 rounds as well, but it's nearing that point... Maybe hold off until the first week after the All-Star Break and see if anything has happened by then, but if a guy makes it through an entire half of the season playing like he is right now, that's definitely droppable.

I'm mad at Zimmerman too and I don't even have him in any leagues this year. Luckily I usually went with Pablo Sandoval over him in scenarios where I drafted a 3B in that timeframe this year and even with him missing a month of the season, he's been more valuable somehow. Still, after two straight years of a broken hamate bone, I may avoid Panda next year too...

All valid points. Sometimes we fall in love with a name, but it's hype only.

For example, everyone loves Carl Crawford. I never, ever drafted him and avoided him. Why? He's a guy that would likely give you 15 homers, 50 SB with a .330 OBP. That's delicious up to a point, but those are not first round numbers to me. As easily as 15 HR becomes 20, they can also become 10. Then you're just overpaying for SAGNOF.

In 2010, he went 10th overall and produced 110/19/90/47 & .307/.356/.495. Outside of SB and AVG, those were all career highs. People got lucky in 2010, and they paid the price in 2011.

We've been paying the price for Zimmerman's 2009.
