Year one of my fantasy baseball career saw me play a few bust players. They included Delmon Young, James Shields, Jay Bruce, Adrian Beltre, Rick Porcello and Ricky Nolasco. Since they made me angry during the season I avoided drafting them in this season. As you all know, a few of those players had great seasons: Beltre and Young in particular.

Here are players that burned me in 2010. Tell me if I should give them a chance in 2011 or avoid them:

Carlos Lee
Lance Berkman
Chone Figgins
Gordon Beckham
Chris Coghlan
Kyle Blanks
Brad Lidge
Jason Kubel
Adam Lind
Raul Ibanez
Yadier Molina
Derrek Lee
Brad Hawpe
Gavin Floyd

Floyd, Lind, Lidge and Beckham aren't terrible players. Blanks will depend on playing time. Figgy is steals, depends if you need that. Lot of these guys are just old.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

So should we make it a rule to generally avoid old players?

Not in general, but if a guy's career arc is going down you shouldn't expect a bounce back, but then again there was Konerko this year so it's not a hard and fast rule.
