CarGo in 2011 (and 2010)

Postby Bosy Billups » Sun Aug 08, 2010 2:45 pm

He is my team's MVP, and I have HallAday and Hamilton as well.

Combine his age, team, lineup, pedigree (former top prospect), tools, etc...

Can we now put him into the Brauns, Kemps, J-Ups category?

Why has he not been accepted into the elite yet, and talked about as possibly the top OF in next year's draft?

In a keeper, I think he could still be had for cheap (MEANING, a second and third rounder) because of this stigma, but Cargo looks like he's for real... yet not considered as such, yet.

I'm starting to think he stole all of Grady Sizemore's magic!

Agree?

19BB/99K is why people are leery. Guys who are free swingers are more apt to get figured out eventually (*cough, Pablo Sandoval). I'd keep him if the price was right, but in a redraft league he'll probably be a bit too expensive to be on my teams in 2011.

But yeah, he's been bananas this year, and is just insanely hot right now. Who put the HGH in this guy's wheaties? Holy crap!

I drafted him in all 3 of my leagues in the 13th or so thinking I could get a nice .280/20/20 3rd OF, but I didn't see this coming.

You never know though, he could start to take a few walks here and there as his career progresses, like Delmon. Still not great, but improving.

Though, I remember hearing CarGo was always projected as a pretty good average guy, even in the minors.

Crazy thing about him is that he has never really slumped at all this year. Usually hi K low BB guys slump for periods.

Not saying he is a Vlad, but he could be one of those anomalies.

And, the way he has hit all year and last year, you don't think pitchers are throwing him garbage from time to time? I would hope some have at least tried, and pretty sure they have.

I'm shopping him this off-season as a cheap keeper with first rounder numbers in the hopes of getting something I feel more comfortable with. He could be one of those rare .300 hitters who strike out a ton and don't walk much but I try not to challenge those types of stats.

What's weird are his stats from last year compared to this year. He actually had a healthy walkrate with all those strikeouts. Maybe the hitting coach just gave up when he saw CarGo hitting .350 in April.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.

I think he has serious potential as a draft day diversion in 2011.
