Aubrey Huff

Postby papasmurf » Sat Jul 03, 2010 9:10 am

Kinda early for keeper talk, but my team's out of it and I need to see who I will keep and who I will try to trade for some potential keepers.

Huff's multiposition eligibility and strong year makes him an intriguing borderline candidate.

Am I nuts to seven consider keeping him for next year? (Per league rules, usually around 100 players get kept each year)

Huff is very inconsistent from year to year. Depends on what your other options are, but I wouldn't consider him a top 100 player.

The man continues to rake.

How can a guy be so good one year, and so mediocre the next? Hitting mechanics? Just overcoming injuries? What a weird career he’s had.

After he blew up in 2008, I almost kept him for the 2009 season, but didn't. Then, I proceeded to draft him anyway after the top options at 1B were gone and he burned me good. Luckily, I traded for Ryan Howard right after the All Star break in 2009 and he went bonkers...only for me to lose in the final for the second year in a row.

I picked up Huff about a month ago from the free agent pool. He earned OF eligibility and hasn't left my starting lineup since. Still, I probably wouldn't keep him.
