I don't see much ink on just how mediocre this guy has been because his overall stats still look kind of respectable. BA around .300, slightly under 20 homers, and 67 or so RBI. If you took out his monster April, he has been terrible. He has big home road splits, so I wonder if his production is Wrigley wind-based.

His OPS is actually worse than last year's. Maybe he still has one 900 OPS month left, but I ain't counting on it. He's hitting warning track flies to RF a lot, but doesn't quite have the power to get it over the fence the other way without the Wrigley wind lifting the ball, and he's just not driving the ball in the air to LF. Anything he pulls is on the ground, routine DP balls, that's why he's Mr. Doubleplay.

Rudy and I were IM'ing each other about this very subject the other day. Derrek Lee for Ryan Howard was so the move to make in April.

I offered Beckett for Lee and got declined, back in April. Lee in my league just got traded for Shits. I mean Sheets. Yes, post-ASB terrible Sheets. Ah well....

In my first year of fantasy baseball, I am 1st place in 2/3 leagues! BOOMSHAKALAKA! (NBA Jam, circa. 1996-ish?)

Too late for me. The guy who had Howard traded him AND Beckett for Berkman in early May...

It did look like Lee was in for a 35 homer season in April. He was good down the stretch last year, combined with the hot start, it looked good. Had no idea he'd be this bad after that.

Another day at the office for Lee. 0 for 5 and his team had 11 runs.

I should have just dropped him for Chris Davis.

I'm not sure how his numbers are any different than those projected for him.

It's really amazing how all of the projections for him are coming eerily true:
The best case scenario comes from Bill James: 25/82/80/.297/7
Here are his numbers so far: 17/69/67/.291/5

He's actually going to surpass his projections in runs and RBI, and hit his projections in HR, BA and Steals. He turns 33 in September, so it's safe to say he'd be an 7th or 8th rounder next year, but I'm staying away.

He seems like he's definitely trending the wrong way. It's weird how suddenly 33 is old again in baseball. Member those wacky days of a 40 year old hitting 45 HRs?

Then again, that's pretty good production if you use him in your Utility spot and are able to nab him relatively late.

Though his name makes him overrated and you won't be able to grab him late unless everyone in your league reads this and agrees with it.

He's garbage as usual.

If he's already thinking about retirement in F-L-A, he should just fake an injury and just take the money and leave the game.
