I was wondering if you guys could give me a little info as to why there is a trade deadline, both in real football and in fantasy. For fantasy purposes, in my league we keep 2, and then redraft. It's not an auction draft either so I don't really see a point to having a deadline. I think without one the players who are out of contention at the time of the playoffs would at least still be able to try and make some deals to obtain a different player that they have hopes of making a keeper for next year. If there is something I am missing please inform me, but both in fantasy and in real life it just kinda seems pointless to have one.

Lets say you are the best team. You are first all year. Someone trades for Tom Brady the day before the playoffs to the second place team. You lose because of this trade.

The same thing could be said if they made the trade the day before the deadline.... I don't really see the difference. And its not like the team that was in first all year doesn't have equal opportunity to make a trade.
