Hey guys,
I have half of my league up in arms over a trade that was just accepted. I'll give you the quick breakdown of my league... It's a 10 team H2H PPR non-keeper league. We give out bonus pts at 100 yds rec/rush 300 yds passing. We play QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, UTIL (any offensive position so 2 QBs is an option), K, DST.

The trade:
7-2 team offers Brett Favre (bench player he has Rivers and Warner at QB and UTIL) and Kellen Winslow (starting TE)
1-8 team returns Dallas Clark (obviously starting TE) for the above 2... he has questionable QBs (Joe Flacco and Matt Cassel) so clearly Favre is an upgrade

We only let 4 teams into the playoffs. I have people complaining for 2 reasons:
1) they don't think it's right that a for all intents and purposes eliminated team is trading with a team that is arguably the best (we have 3 teams at 7-2)
2) they just don't think the trade is fair

Any thoughts?

For me, the key question is if it's a money league. I think if it is, people should be able to make whatever trades they like. Teams that make bad decisions will lose money. Over time, members of the group will learn in this way. Everyone is assumed to be an adult, capable of learning.

In a just-for-kicks league, I don't know. Without that incentive to make better decisions, fairness requires regulation, essentially the loathsome league vote system.
