Brady for Rivers

Postby JewDog31 » Mon Aug 23, 2010 5:49 pm

12 team keeper league. 5 points for a passing touchdown. We keep 5 players in the round they are drafted. I have the swing pick at #12.

My keepers right now are:

Brady (1st Round)
Ray Rice (5th)
Roddy White (5th)
Jamaal Charles (11th)
Vernon Davis (16th)

I am thinking about trading Brady for Rivers (10th round) straight up. This means that I would also get a player somewhere around 60-70 in the ranking if I had my 1st round pick instead of a 10th round pick. Is the difference there and the difference between a 28 Year old and a 33 year old QB enough to make up the difference between Brady and Rivers?

I am scared off by Jackson's holdout and Norv Turner in general.

I do like the AFC West defenses for Rivers. I think Rivers can be successful without VJax. If I had a better idea who you could grab in the first round it might make it easier to evaluate, but on the surface I think it's a decent idea.

I won't know for sure until after the trade would be made, but my quick math has 8 teams keeping their first rounder. Probably a couple of guys from the top 60 would not be kept (Maybe Addai, Jacobs, Ochocinco, etc.) plus the rookies can't be kept (Spiller, Bryant, Matthews) so I'll probably get a shot at at least one or two of that area. I don't mind picking up an aging star but I don't love most of those guys. I'd probably be hoping for Steve Smith (Car), Ryan Matthews, or Wes Welker at that spot.

I feel like that's where drafts always start to get weak.

Agreed. But if you can grab one of those three I think you win the deal overall. Especially Mathews. Don't forget about Best. I'm liking him more and more.

Yeah, I like Best skillwise - he was a stud in college - but I still don't know if I can trust him with the Lion's line. Kevin Smith struggled pretty hard last year and while he's not the talent that Best is, he did have more experience. I like Best but I like him more if he slips to the 3rd or 4th round.
