I've done my best to resist the urge to complain, but this is ridiculous.
Weaver, over his last two starts, burnt me for 13 ER over 11 innings. Tonight, he had the Yankees. So I benched him. As I write this, he just finished the 8th, and he's allowed 5 baserunners, 1 ER, and fanned 11.
I've plugged Antonio Bastardo into my team 3 or 4 times this year. For the year, he's at 54.1 IP, and he's K'd 66 while maintaining a ridiculous WHIP of .81 (44 baserunners) and a 1.99 ERA (12 ER).
For the spans he's been on my team, he's provided me with 2.1 IP, 9 baserunners (WHIP of 3.86), 5 ER (ERA of 19.29) and 4 K's.
In other words, in the 4.3% of his total IP that he's been on my team, he's given up 20.5% of all his baserunners and 42% of all his runs for the year.
Tonight he gave me 0.0 IP, 2 baserunners and 2 ER.
That wouldn't be so bad if he split the difference with the K's and, say, gave me 30% of his K's over 2.1 IP. 20 K's in 2.1 IP would be some sort of record, I think.
