Hi,

My first time playing fantasy sports of any kind, and I really appreciate the advice I've found here. The clever humor is just gravy.

10 teams, H2H, CBS Sports points (1B, 2B, 3B, BB, CS, HP, HR, KO, R, RBI, SB for hitters and BBI, ER, HA, HB, INN, K, L, QS, S, W for pitchers)

Ruiz, Carlos C
Votto, Joey 1B
Utley, Chase 2B
Longoria, Evan 3B
Cabrera, Asdrubal SS
Hamilton, Josh OF
Kemp, Matt CF OF
Werth, Jayson OF
Abreu, Bobby U

Rodriguez, Wandy SP
Kershaw, Clayton SP
Blanton, Joe SP
De La Rosa, Jorge SP
Slowey, Kevin SP
Bell, Heath RP
Madson, Ryan RP

Reserves
Desmond, Ian SS
Correia, Kevin SP
Cueto, Johnny SP
Santana, Ervin SP
Happ, J.A. SP

I tried to follow the PEDS strategy as much as possible. I'm a little worried though that my pitching staff will give me ulcers. Love my hitters. I realize that A-Cab and Desmond are pretty much the same player, but I couldn't resist grabbing Desmond off waivers. Should I drop A-Cab, or just wait and see?

P.S. You now have another girl reader.

Hey, lady! Yeah, your pitching staff's a little wonky. I do like those guys though so there's that. Hopefully Wandy, Ervin, Clayton and Slowey's as good as I think they can be. Chances are you'll probably need to make a trade for a starter at some point, no need to right now they, let them play a little first to see where you stand. Your hitting's real nice, so there's that. And if you want something to be better it would be hitting. Overall, it's solid.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Hi mtw02,

What's left on waivers doesn't seem like an upgrade over what I have, but here's a few possibilities:

Ian Kennedy
Hiroki Kuroda
Brian Matusz
Chris Young

I'd love to know how you landed Utley, Longoria and Kemp, all three of whom profile as top 10 picks. Even in a ten-team league, it's hard to envision how you'd land all three. Well done.

Ha!

I had the fourth pick, and half the owners auto-drafted. They must have stayed with the default player rankings because pitchers were flying off the board in the early rounds. And I was lucky to get Kemp. I was all set to draft him in the 4th when my browser crashed on me. Once the smoke cleared, I saw that I had somehow drafted Heath Bell instead. Fortunately Kemp was still available in the next round.
