The price for Cole Hamels

Postby BaronVonVulturewins » Tue Jul 22, 2008 12:06 pm

I am dangling Cole to another owner, looking to get an OF and a RP in return.

1) Which OF do you like better: Quentin, Drew or Magglio?

2) Is one of those plus Lidge or Brandon Lyons enough return on Cole? (I figure I'll ask for Lidge, settle for Lyons.)

I too am getting nervous about his IP totals. My remaining staff would be Lackey, Cain, Baker, Cueto. It's a relatively shallow league, so decent pitchers come available.

I like them Mags, Quentin then Drew, in that order. Obviously I also like Lidge better.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

You're right in trying to move Hamels as soon as you can for as much as you can. I'm worried about his increase in FB's lately and the corresponding homeruns. He has a 19% HR/FB ratio over his last 3 starts and his BABIP is .247. His ERA and WHIP are in for a world of pain.

A friend of mine in a league I'm in just pulled this off today to my shock...

Trade 1: Traded Hart and Josh Johnson for Lincecum...
Trade 2: Traded Hamels and Maddux for Braun and Parra.

So basically he upgraded from Hamels/Johnson/Maddux to Lincecum/Parra... and upgraded from Hart to Braun. Not sure how he pulled it off, but it's a pretty competetive league where stuff like this doesn't happen too often. I'm thinking that the Lincecum guy was thinking that Lincecum has been overworked and might be fatiguing, and my buddy was thinking that Hamels is having the same issues. I guess there's one anectdotal benchmark for you to consider.
14 team h2h keeper (keep 5), $101 FAAB budget. C,1B,2B,SS,3B,MI,CI,U,5SP,2RP... It's standard 5x5, but we use quality starts instead of wins. I currently have $1 left in FAAB money.

I don't think I would have given up Hart for Lincecum (even prior to Grey's falling Lincecum warning). But trade 2 is practically ridiculous. That's basically getting Braun and Parra for Hamels (Maddux is hardly better than what one could find on waivers). And even Braun for Hamels, straight, is pretty lopsided.
