I've been trying to climb in to the playoff race (currently 8th/12, fluctuating every week from 7-9, top 6 are in) and todays post about now or never is exactly where I'm at. Make a move now or I'm done. After consistently losing most pitching categories every week (h2h) I started looking to make moves. My trade chips so far have been K-rod, Lind, Joba, Drew and Cruz or any combination the lot. Offers for Oswalt, F-Her, vazquez and most other lower end top tier guys have been rejected. The only offer I can truly get is Longoria for J. Johnson straight up. My two questions; Is this enough for Longoria (he won't pony up anything else) and will the pitching help be worth the offensive loss?
Here's my roster for full disclosure. The trade would leave me with no 3B and the waiver wire is extremely slim, plus the only "droppable" guy I think I have is Bucholz but I'm hoping he magically cures my pitching woes single handedly.
C-Weiters, 1B- R. Howard, 2B- Hill, 3B- Longoria, SS- J. Roll, OF- Quentin, Soriano, Upton UTIL- S. Drew, N. Cruz BN- Lind, Bourn
SP- Hamels, Shields, Nolasco, Price, Joba, Hanson, Bucholz RP- K-Rod, Qualls, Downs
I was lucky enough to grab J Roll, Hill and Quentin off the wire at various points of the season and the only pitcher I've ever traded away was Soria in a deal to get Hamels early in the season. My pitching has been my downfall all year and if Price, Hamels, Shields and Joba all get their shit together I might be OK. But its not looking good for me.
So should I take the Johnson deal or gut the offense and go after Lincecum or some one like him?
Every move I seem to make is only keeping me stagnant in the middle/lower end of the pack so any suggestion is appreciated.
