Do you need the runs and the steals over pitching cats?

I'm at or near the top in all the categories except Saves (can make that up as the season goes on), Steals (currently in 4th place but if any of my base stealers get hurt I'm screwed), and Batting Average (I'm second to last in this one; it's killing me).

I've been starting meat-head types at utility (i.e. Hank Blalock) which has helped me to lead significantly in Home Runs. But I feel I would be much better served with an average/steals type of guy in the second half. Crawford, to me, is the most desireable of this type of player.

I'm not overly concerned with losing Haren. Our trade deadline isn't until August 30th. If I did trade Haren I would just look to shop for temporarily injured/under valued starters and give up my decent bats for them. If I couldn't put a desireable trade together I'd just spot start guys which would hurt me in pitching but I'd be in a position to win every hitting category except average (which I would improve upon significantly).

What I'm most curious about is values and whether or not I'm getting "the best" of any given trade. In Roto you can always trade for what you need later on; accruing more value on your roster is most important until mid-summer. I feel confident that I would be getting the best of it here, am I wrong?

Seems like you thought it out pretty extensively already. I would try a lesser piece than Ethier first. And then revert to Ethier if that is what it takes.
