Trading for Closers.

Postby Garnold » Thu Jul 02, 2009 11:05 am

I'm 90 innings over, and I'm looking to acquire some some relievers and get rid of some starters. However, I've got to trade some offense to get a closer or two first. Here's my team:

C: Inge
1B: Carlos Pena
2B: Utley
3B: Figgins
SS: Jeter
MI: Jose Lopez
CI: Willie Harris
OF: Hart
OF: Lind
OF: Markakis
OF: Reimold
OF: Maggs Ordonez
UTIL: Chris B. Young

Bench: Kaz Matsui, Ibanez (DL), Beltran (DL) Alex Gordon (DL)

P: Scott Baker
P: Jered Weaver
P: Ted Lilly
P: Randy Johnson
P: Joba Chamberlain
P: Dallas Braden
P: Rick Porcello
P: Fuentes
P: Mike Gonzalez
P: Raffy Soriano
P: Mike MacDougal

Bench: Peavy (DL)

I'm trying to get J.P. Howell or Francisco Cordero off a manager with a lot of extra saves.

Would you trade Joba and Corey Hart for both Cordero and Howell? I would love to get Howell as I believe he's undervalued by this owner. Would Hart for Howell be giving too much?

C: Gattis
1B: Rizzo
2B: Altuve
3B: Franco
SS: Reyes
CI: Pujols
MI: Schoop
OF: McCutchen
OF: Trumbo
OF: Wil Myers
OF: J-Upton
OF: Billy Burns
UTIL: Holt

Bench: Jarrod Dyson, Gallo,
DL: Do. Santana, Steve Pearce

SP's: J Fernandez, Price, Harvey, Salazar, Pomeranz, Smyly, DeScalfini, Chen, Glasnow
RP's: Will Harris, Ziegler, Jean Gomez, Will Smith

Also, would trade Joba and Hart for Cordero and Kerry Wood?

I would do them in this order:

Joba and Corey Hart for both Cordero and Howell

Hart for Howell

Joba and Hart for Cordero and Kerry Wood

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

He didn't bite on any of the offers. As is, my pitching is in shambles, and I'm thinking of going for broke and trading two starters (Ted Lilly and Joba) for Howell and Cordero.

That way my offense (hopefully) can stay near the top of my league, and I rocket to the top of the league in saves. I'm still over 80 innings, and in my mind I'll be better off ratio and K/per innings-wise through the second half.

This seems like an insane gamble, which it probably is. However, I don't see myself gaining anything ratio-wise with the pitching staff I currently sport:

P: Scott Baker
P: Jered Weaver
P: Ted Lilly
P: Joba Chamberlain
P: Dallas Braden (tears)
P: Rick Porcello
P: Paul Maholm
P: Brandon Morrow
P: Fuentes
P: Mike Gonzalez
P: Raffy Soriano
P: Mike MacDougal

Bench: Peavy (DL) Randy Johnson (DL)

If he doesn't take the deal, which other starter would you pair in order to get the two closers?

Or if you had to trade for either Howell or Cordero, which starter would you trade (he's not interested in Joba 1-for-1)?
