when can I safely trade away my saves?

You wanna trade who for who? Wow, that's awful/great/horrendous/beautiful/really terrible?

when can I safely trade away my saves?

I'm leading the category, but in a dogfight overall, with my next nearest competitor 12 saves behind me (94 to 82). He's got: Aroldis, Kimbrell, Melancon, Janssen, Cisneros, and Veras. I've got: Papelbon, Romo, Jansen, and Holland. I would love to trade away Paps because his contract is expiring and I can't keep him.

My trade deadline is 8/18.

When, if ever, can I simply trade away a closer without getting one in return, and without worrying about the next nearest team catching me in saves?

Alternatively, when could I trade Paps for a guy like, say, Rex Brothers, who will get some SV, but will lose the job by September?

Even if you lose one point in saves, can you lose other points in saves? Can you gain a lot more points than you can lose in saves? Then trade them away...

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
