The "Are Brown and Puig for real" trade???

Postby TheBigCheese11 » Sat Jun 08, 2013 6:04 am

In a 3 player keeper league and got another owner who is a bit keeper obsessed. I'm trying to focus on just winning this thing and less on the keepers.

My roster is below and I've been offered....

Yansil Puig / Dominic Brown / Matt Latos

for

Giancarlo Stanton (I'll probably throw in Gerritt Cole and Marcell Ozuna to even it out)

Pull the trigger???
12 Team Mixed League (OBP) 3 Keepers

C - Miguel Montero
1B - Justin Morneau
2B - Chase Utley
3B - Nolan Arenado (DL) / Casey McGhee
SS - Brad Miller
OF - Giancarlo Stanton
OF - Michael Brantley
OF - Alex Rios
Util - George Springer
Bench - Gregory Polanco
Bench - Kendrys Morales
DL - Prince Fielder

You are giving up Stanton? I don't think I would do that. Too much relying on guys with no track record. Getting Latos is nice but I don't think it is enough. There is still some worry about what happens when Crawford and Kemp come back. They aren't going to bench either of those guys or Ethier. So Puig might be back in the minors by the end of the month.

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat, personally. Stanton hits for power, sure. He's a very trick-or-treat hitter though. Both Brown and Puig are a) healthy b) mashing c) not going anywhere. Plus you get Latos? Wow...

This isn't necessarily anti-Stanton, but Brown and Puig have both shown serious ability in the minors and majors (albeit small-ish sample size in the majors) and Latos is a stud.
