SP for CI

Postby jvh4 » Wed May 15, 2013 8:11 am

Would like to flip a SP for a CI; My hitting is not good . . .

I have Wainwright $29 2 more years, Lee $17 2 more years, Scherzer $13 1 more year, Minor gone after this year, Homer $5 2 more years, Morrow $11 1 more year, Niese $9 2 more years, Becket $2 2 more years
My CI are Moustakas - gone, Headley $7 2more, Ike Davis $9 - 2 more, Konerko $11 2 more, Berkman $6 2 more

His CI are M Cabrera $43 2 more, Fielder $42 2 more, longoria $25 2 more, Sandoval gone, Rizzo gone, freeman gone

What's a fair offer to get one of his CI? With 2 UT spots, he can play all these guys, but he needs pitching.

Points league. standard scoring Cabrera is top hitter with 175 points, f-her top pitcher with 205 points. Wainwright has 175 . . .

Kind of depends on what you want for next years auction. Do you want to clear roster space so you can have more money to spend or would it be better to go after a guy that you can keep. Seems to me i would be going after Sandoval, Rizzo or Freeman. I would be fine offering up Minor or even Lee. Lee is still a nice price but he is going to start declining eventually and could be nice to clear off the books.

Yeah, that's a great point. In this league we keep up to 7, but 3 are from your farm system. So, none of these guys count as farm guys they would be one of your 4 normal keepers. Since there is a decent amount of roster turnover, I could see doing a one year rental as long as I'm not trading away one of my best keepers.

I tend to keep elite talent who are underpriced keeping league inflation in mind. So Scherzer at $13 is a guy I like to keep more than Fielder at $42. In theory I could get him at $42 in next years draft. If all the top bats are being kept then I might keep a guy who is expensive. It's trying to enter the draft with the most talent per dollar for me. Entering this draft I had Scherzer at $13, Morrow at $11, Moustakas at $3, Altuve at $1, Minor at $3, Rosario at $3 since all the players drafted i the 1st year of the draft were becoming free agents. I had the most $ coming into the draft and hopefully above average talent. I let guys like Holliday walk at $32 etc. Time will tell if that was the right approach.

Minor for Rizzo might work if you think thats fair for both teams. Both are former farm guys that are expiring.

I wouldn't think Minor could get you Rizzo, but he's a guy I'd go after.
