Improving OF

Postby reveries » Fri May 29, 2009 8:52 am

I've been trying to upgrade my OF per Grey's advice and here's what's currently going on. Guy who's lacking saves shot down Francisco for Hamilton(understandably), but not harshly. I was trying to see how desperate he was, but he said he didn't want to deal a premier player for saves. So, now I'm trying for Ludwick because to me, the gap between him and Hamilton isn't as big as most make it out to be(correct me if I'm wrong) and I feel I could get decent value there. No answer on that yet, but I just made the offer.

Then, there's a guy in our league who has an excess of hitting thanks to some great gambles so far(Cano, Zimmerman, J-Upton, Nelson Cruz, among others) among the normal safe picks and he'd offered me Jay Bruce for J-Shields before the season began, but I usually don't make deals to start the year unless they blow me away. My question is if that's still a fair deal or if you think I missed out? Also, is it better for me to offer Garza? It's important that I note that it's a keeper league where we select any 4 hitters and 4 pitchers to keep without any other limits and Garza obviously has more upside than Shields. I'll likely wind up keeping whichever of them I don't trade plus Hamels and Greinke and someone else. Kind of hoping here that Bruce's value is diminished because of the low average, but it's hard to ignore the homeruns.

Anyway, thanks a lot Grey for all your help and to anyone else willing to throw ideas.

Bruce for Shields is fair. I'd prefer to offer Garza.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
