Sell high on Reimold and Porcello, or hold?

Postby Razzy » Wed May 27, 2009 6:03 pm

Someone wants to give me Teahen and Liriano for Reimold and Porcello. This is a deep AL-only league and after the AS break I will need a third baseman. 8-team league with 22 starters, 6 man bench. There are virtually no third basemen on the FA market but still have more than a month to go to find someone. Teahen isnt wonderful, but hes decent. This seems like a pretty weak year for AL third basemen.

Liriano is struggling, but given his studly past, is he worth gambling on? He has lost about 3-4 mph off of his fastball since before his TJ surgery.

Will Porcello and Reimold keep this up? Porcello in particular has really picked it up of late. And Reimold hit a walk-off homer today. Their value might be at their peak right now, so maybe I can do better.

Thoughts?

Wow, that's tough. I think you gotta go for it unless this is a keeper. Then hold pat.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Its a keeper, but we can only keep 3 or 4 players. Right now my top keeper candidates are Markakis, Chris Davis, Torii Hunter, and Cano. I have several good starters too, but maybe not quite keeper material - Beckett, Burnett, Danks, Meche, Lackey, Pettitte, and Porcello (we use 6 starters but I rotate 7 in and out) plus Escobar on the DL.

I am playing to win this yr. Let me know if this knowledge changes your opinion or not.

Thanks

Could you put your team in your signature so I can make a more informed opinion?

Why do you need a third baseman after the ASB?

That is our rule... a guy has to play 10 games at a position he played the previous season by the AS break (or anytime after that) in order to continue to play that position. Davis moved to first and no longer plays at third, so he'll have to move to first or to one of my UT spots after the AS break.

Is it possible to find a new league? That's crazy in an AL only league!
14 team h2h keeper (keep 5), $101 FAAB budget. C,1B,2B,SS,3B,MI,CI,U,5SP,2RP... It's standard 5x5, but we use quality starts instead of wins. I currently have $1 left in FAAB money.
