Phillips for Waino?

Postby birdis78 » Sat Mar 16, 2013 4:15 pm

Should I consider dealing Brandon Phillips for Adam Wainwright?

I have a lot of multi-position eligible guys that could be shifted around if I did move Phillips.

Is my pitching staff enough of a concern to make a move like this? Or do I stand pat and see how things play out once the season gets going?

With Zobrist and Bonifacio...I would do it in a heartbeat...both Phillips and Waino offer similar value...Phillips seems to be on the decline...though Waino is starting to get up there...he is well on his way to being a fantasy ace...perhaps just under the Kershaw/Strasburg/Verlander/Felix tier.

If Waino get's his curvevall back ...I mean really back...he'd be a steall...he has the upside that Phillips doesn't appear to have any longer.

I would do this deal as well. Phillips isn't anything special but Wainwright was a top 5 SP before TJ surgery. I think he can get back to that level.

How close in value do you think AGon and Wainwright are in a 16 Team H2H Dynasty League? I've been thinking about trying to trade AGon for Wainwright, but I keep going back and forth on what else to ask for and their values.
Would AGon be worth trading for a package like Wainwright/Dahl (or Singleton)?

Sorry if this is completely off topic for the post...

Agon should net you more than Wainwright so getting Dahl is ok. Not sure what else you could get in return but I might try to get a little more though in a dynasty Dahl's value is pretty decent. While I like dealing for long term guys, I generally try and trade for guys that will help me now. Who knows what Dahl will be in a couple years and just never seems to work out the way you want.

I agree that Yo Adrian! is worth more than Waino...I think they might be worth about the same if Waino's curveball was working pre-TJ surgery...but pitchers are not as durable as hitters...who knows what things will be like in a few years....Adrian should have a good year...and if Hosmer does well, you will have more trading options...do the Dahl deal if you'd like...but I figure pitchers are a bigger risk, especially in keeper/dynasty leagues.
