I was offered Ryan Braun for my Justin Upton and Eric Hosmer in an 8-team keeper roto league with OBP instead of AVG. We play with 2 C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CI, MI, 5 OF, UTIL, 9 P. Our budget is $260.

Braun is 41 dollars, and he needs to go back to auction after this year. Upton is signed for 34 bucks for this year and the same salary in 2014. Hosmer will be 6 bucks this year and can be resigned after this year at a higher salary (either 12 bucks per year for two more years or 14 per year for three more years).

Braun is obviously worth rostering. Hosmer could be worthless, but if he breaks out, he will clearly be a bargain going forward. He might be somewhat expendable because I can also keep Goldy ($10) and Rizzo ($0 for 2013 and then resignable after that). Do I want Braun at what might be a slight value for 2013, or should I hold on to Upton and Hosmer since they offer more potential value beyond this year?

My other keeper options are as follows (I can keep 8. Right now, Hosmer and Upton are on my keep list). If I make the trade, I could keep Medlen for $9. I have to keep Mauer and Upton unless I trade them, but I could throw other guys back.

I'd take Braun in your league... In that shallow of a league, you want the absolute best guys... Hosmer may not even be a top 8 1st baseman so he's not gonna do you much good...
