Hey folks,

H2H Dynasty League - typical scoring format, 16 team. Normal rosters.
My team is listed in my signature.

I give up Fielder for Goldy, Luebke, Bauer/Tavares . He also has Heyward, but I don't think he'd include him. He also has Shields & Fiers (not sure if I could pry Shields from him)

Too little for Fielder? I also have Hosmer. I'm looking to upgrade my pitching (yes, I know Luebke will miss the beginning of the season), but I'm pretty reluctant to give up Fielder at this point. If I can get both Bauer and Tavares, should I pull the trigger? Should I try to get Heyward?

Thanks!

I don't really like it. Just nothing that stands out in the deal for you.

It's a KEEPER trade. Who has the most value over the next 3-5 years? Fielder, for sure. But it's MUCH more close than you think.

I'd ask for Taveras and he alone might make the deal work. Goldy's early projections are pretty good and Luebke plays 1/2 of his games in Petco. Fielder's also going to progressive go down hill as his body does what it's going to do. Taveras' is going to be a stud (perhaps as soon as 2014) in fantasy.

I guess you have to ask yourself: are you in it for THIS year? Do you think you have a realistic shot to win right now? If so, then you don't make the trade. If you think you might have not be competitive this year and might be looking to the future, this would allow you to build up your pieces to be competitive for next 3-5 years. If that's the case, then I think you MUST make this trade.

I'm really high on Goldschmidt this year. Like the previous poster pointed out, it's a "keeper" trade. It's a trade that's most likely going to help you in the long run. The biggest difference between Goldy and Fielder, and what you'll likely be wishing you had come midseason, is consistency. Still strikes out more than I would like. But expect a spike in HR, say 6-7 more this season, but his steals should come down, too.

Interesting offer. One that I would have to think long and hard about. Especially in a 16-team league where future talent is at a premium.

Thanks guys! This is my first keeper team, so I'm still figuring out my strategy. I'm still mulling over offering this to him - Fielder for Goldy, Luebke, Tavaras. Young talent is a premium in this league (hence why i can't find anyone to take Josh Hamilton off my hands), but I also don't want to trade away my chances of being competitive this year. I keep going back and forth as to whether my team has a chance or not (kinda hard to decide in the off season). Pitching is also very highly valued and hard to pry away from people.

I'm going to finish this cup of coffee and mull this over a bit more.
Thanks for the insight!

I hate keeper type trades. There is a good rule of thumb in trades, whoever is getting the best player wins the deal. This isn't 100% but it is generally true. Because you are dealing for a bunch of guys that project to be good by trading a guy who is already good.

I a few of the guys you are getting but not for a guy at Fielders level.

Goldy is already nearly worth Fielder straight up. Don't get your panties in a bundle and shout at the screen: "Fielder is WAY better than Goldy!" Yes. Of course he is. But Goldy isn't a prospect anymore. He's got a year of solid fantasy performance under his belt.

Like you said, you aren't able to trade Hamilton away. My rule of thumb is, in dynasty and keeper leagues, it's best to get rid of a guy a year early, rather than a year too late.

Like this deal. Fielder for Goldy, Luebke Tavares is solid. Oscar in 2 years may end up being the best player in the trade...

I doubt he does this deal to be honest. I'd deal Prince for Goldschmidt and Taveras alone.
