Team below. The guy with Greinke lost A-Rod and is currently rolling with Headley, but I don't think he's comfortable with it.

I'm wondering about offering him the following....

I give him Darvish/Longoria

I get Greinke

Longoria will come back soon but Tampa is already saying they will treat him with kid gloves. He's going to be taking a lot of days off and he has done very little since April so he will probably be a waste of space for August.

Would this be a good move for me?

He's getting the best player. And I'd feel a little like I was selling a piece of my soul by giving up my beloved Trout. But no one is untradeable and all that matters is the championship.

(I cannot keep Trout next year because I got him off the WW.)

I'd consider that offer, and then I'd accept that offer.

While it's true you may be giving up the best player in that deal, you're getting a potentially top 5 pitcher (rest of season) plus Ellsbury, who's no slouch and hits in a potent lineup. Ells won't put up Trout numbers, but if he continues to progress in his comeback from injury, he will serve you very well.

Also, while you have decent pitching, I think Greinke immediately becomes your best SP. You've got some question marks in Lester and Darvish, so adding Greinke will give you a sense of calm in your rotation should you advance to the playoffs, when we all know pitching is key.

To reiterate, I like that deal for you.

I've got to say though, when I think about how Trout has carried my team for the past couple months, it is difficult....especially when I see how average Ellsbury has been since coming back.

Any more opinions? I'd love to hear from all, including Grey, Rudy, everyone!

Ellsbury only has 1 HR and 3 SB's in 99 at bats this season... If you look at his HR/FB% this year it's back in line with his career norm with last year's being a million times higher... I wouldn't expect that to go much higher. He's also hitting less fly balls than in the past, more ground balls, and has a higher percentage of infield pop outs.

To put things into perspective, in the last 30 days here are Ellsbury and Trout's numbers:

Ellsbury - .301 BA, 11 runs, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 3 SB
Trout - .371 BA, 30 runs, 9 HR, 22 RBI, 9 SB


I know you're getting Greinke too, but the question I'd be asking is whether or not your offense can take the loss.

This is my concern. Is the addition of Greinke worth the loss in offense, and I'm not sure my offense can take the hit. Plus selling Trout almost feels like selling a piece of my soul.

I cancelled it. The guy owns Braun too. I told him no thanks to Ellsbury and if he's looking to add Trout, I want Braun in the deal.

I don't like what that trade would have done to my offense at all.

I'd have probably done the same, though in one of my leagues I'm lucky enough to have both Braun and Trout...
If Braun is in the deal I doubt that you're going to get Greinke without including a pretty substantial second player in the deal... What other outfielders or offensive players in general does he have that you'd be interested in?

He said Braun will not be in any deal. I don't like his other OF options....Choo and B Harper. I'm too in love with Trout to just make a trade work. I guess I'll just hope my pitching turns.
