ARam & Shields for Hamels?

Postby wudaben » Sun May 03, 2009 7:38 pm

I'm in a 12 team H2H league and have been offered Hamels for Aramis & James Shields and I'm kinda torn here. Hamels has been gimpy thus far but in his last two starts he looked lights out up until the line drive and the ankle sprain. I've got alot of mid range pitchers... Baker, Cueto, Kershaw, P. Hughes, Slowey, S. Richmond, G. Floyd, Wang & Shields and I have both Aramis & Zimmerman at 3rd. I like the idea of picking up an ace like Cole even though I think Shields is almost an ace. Any recommendations?

I am aware that many around here consider Cole to be a major injury risk this year but how come all the projections on this site still have him listed as one of the top starters?

I think you can get a different ace for that combo (CC, Peavy, Halladay) and if not, don't trade them.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Ok... so what if I offered Brian Roberts & Shields for Peavy and Bonifacio? I also have Ian Stewart who will be eligible at second in two more games.

Out of curiosity do you think that i'm loosing too much going from Roberts to Stewart/Emilio? or is it a question mark regarding Peavy or the lack of difference between Peavy and Shields?

I like Shields but never really wanted him as my ace and in this auction league... pitching comes very expensive and I was shut out of all the top options and am really just uncomfortable relying on Shields as an every week option since he's in the AL East, generally has a higher ERA/WHIP and just doesn't get the number of Ks as the upper tier guys do. The lack of run production behind Peavy is the major concern at this point.

hamels is like a tougher version of ben sheets. deals when he's healthy. I like the original deal since you've got depth at 3b and your pitching.

I'd like it more if you could get Peavy without losing Shields. Seems like you're robbing Peter to pay Paul with that deal.

how confident are you in Hamels Grey?

I know you don't like the Holliday train, but would you deal Quentin to get Hamels and Holliday? I was also thinking Quentin and Danks for Berkman and Hamels...but as a whitesox fan - I find that hard to do with so many question marks around Hamels.

Danks and Quentin for Hamels and Berkman is a solid trade for you, but you gotta live with it. I'd deal Quentin for Hamels and Holliday, yup.
