Team below. I like my team right now and love my pitching but I may send an offer to an owner who has Hosmer just sitting on his bench.

A couple weeks ago he tried offering me Hosmer for Darvish straight up and I said no way. His pitching is awful overall. He drafted top tier pitching in the draft and then ignored his pitching from then on, thinking the top tier guys would carry him. He's got Halladay, King Felix, Haren, Strasburg, Cahill, and Bucholz. I faced him a couple weeks ago and destroyed him in the pitching categories.

Anyway, he's got 3 offensive guys on his bench that he rarely plays but thinks are too good to drop. Hosmer is one of them.

How about I offer Lance Lynn straight up for Hosmer? Would that be a potentially good move for my team down the road?

I think he rejects Lynn for Hosmer and possibly is insulted, but you can try.

I think Darvish for Hosmer is fair. I also think I'd be finding a way to trade Darvish before it heats up in Dallas. Very few pitchers can pull off pitching well in an AL hitter park.

That said I don't think you need Hosmer bad enough to pay the price to acquire him with Crawford/Longoria on DL and Young/Craig as replacements.

Lynn for Hosmer is not an insult right now, especially considering that the guy has had him on his bench the last 3 weeks and is getting beaten down h2h in pitching categories. Hosmer is a luxury for him right now and Hos looks completely lost at the plate.

It's about timing. Right now offering him Lynn for Hosmer is no insult.

I don't believe Darvish for Hosmer is fair right now. CJ Wilson did just fine in the heat of Dallas. I don't know why Yu could not.

I don't need Hosmer at all, but believe he could find his groove back and become solid....which opens the door to trades. Lynn has begun regressing and will continue to do so I'm afraid.

I didn't say not to propose it, but a savy owner is not going to give up Hosmer for a guy who may be shut down in Sept due to innings limit. Maybe you're dealing with an owner that can be taken advantage. Hell, I had one guy propose me McCuthen for Balfour in my main league this year so anything can happen.
Just giving you my opinion on Darvish. He may wear down as the season goes on due to frequeny of starts and heat he may not be used to coming from Japan.
As for needing Hosmer, I was making the implied point that you don't need to weaken your pitching anymore than neccesary to acquire another bat that is a marginal increase over existing roster spots unless you have a plan to flip Young for another value gaining trade.
Good luck, I hope it works for a fellow razzballer.
