Would anyone trade MadBum straight up for Gallardo?
Am I overthinking this or does Bumgarner's declining K rate concern others too?
Who do you like better ROS?

I don't think I'd ever consider trading away an "elite" pitcher from the NL West. Poor offenses, huge parks, what's not to love?

Declining velocity, paltry K-rate, slider/cutter issue & currently pitching over his metrics. NL Central isn't too tough this year and parks are kinda neutral.

Thanks for your opinion though. I'll note it down as one against offering this trade.

Do I sense attitude? Meow.

Yeah....I stayed away from Jered Weaver last year because he couldn't throw 90 mph in Spring Training. That was a great decision.

Bumgarner's K splits from 2011 were April/May - 46 K's in 64 innings. June/July/August/September - 145 K's in 140.2 innings.

Career splits tell me Gallardo is going to be fantastic in June/July, and he's going to be awful in August.

I think what you sensed was politeness. Maybe you are unaware of what that sounds like. I was trying to keep it civil in my response to your open ended question since we had already disagreed 5 minutes before in your Hosmer thread and I didn't want to come off like some troll.

Anyone else's comments will be appreciated and respected.

Sorry. Hard to tell on the interwebs.

Don't you think what I said has credence though? Look at his splits from last year.

I'll tell you this.....I'm a Gallardo owner. If the guy in my league offered me Bumgarner straight up for Gallardo I would take it. FWIW.

Absolutely I think what you said has credence. I just was bringing up the thoughts that were convincing me to think about proposing this trade.
I appreciate your responses and think you may have swayed me as Gallardo can be an underperformer from expectations most years and I don't know about his tendancy to trail off during FBB playoff time. I just wanted some opinions. Thanks for taking the time to give me your input.

I would absolutely not do that. Like Rizzo said, if someone offered me Bum for Gallardo straight up, I'd take it. Luckily for me, I have Bum and do not own Gallardo anywhere. He's never really impressed me. He has flashes of brilliance, but he has some of the worst games that only Scherzer can match. I'll take Bum any day of the week. He's young and he's becoming more of a pitcher as opposed to a thrower. I like what I see, regardless of the fact that his K-rate is down from last last year.

I have Bumgarner on both my teams and if someone offered me Gallardo plus, say, a third/fourth OF I wouldn't take the deal.
