Hey there.

Got a problem. I'm playin this year for the first time in a H2H 5x5 Roto League (the last years i just played standart roto leagues). I draftet two closers, Broxton and Hoffman. I really didnt care much about the other teams and when Hoffman got injured i simply dropped him (wasnt much of a problem in my old leagues to get a closer and some saves in the free agent pool) and added that douch villanueva. About 2 seconds later someone grabbed Hoffman. That was the time i realized there are absolutly no closers left on the Free Agents. Yeah i know, pretty stupid. But whats done is done. So here is the dillema: Broxton (in my eyes) will be one of the best closers this year. But he's my only guy who can earn saves. I could take some douches who will end the season with 10 Saves and an ERA about 453.45, but i think, that won't help me much. So i thought about just bump the Save Categorie and try to get a starting pitcher in a trade. Is this a good idea? I mean, there are a few guys with 4 or 5 Closers, i wont win against them, but there are also a few others, which i could beat in a good Dodgers Week (or maybe with the help of guys like Grilli, Street or Saito...). I'm just not sure if its a good idea to bump a categorie completly? And on the other side, will an extra starting pitcher help me that much? And if someone has experience in such a league (H2H Roto 5x5 12 Teams), what kind of starter could i ask for? I thought about a guy like Gallardo for Broxton or something like that...

Sorry for my bad english!

Bob

post your lineup and it'll be easier to help. broxton for gallardo is a good trade in my opinion, but i think broxton is even valued more than gallardo. broxton went in the 8th(!!) in my league.

as for your general strategy, you can always nab closers as the season progresses. you might find that, sure, one week it makes no sense to have broxton against a guy with 5 closers, but then another week you play the other guy punting saves and tie a category you should have easily won. i didn't draft a single closer (1o team, h2h, redraft) and now have morrow, franklin, and downs. end of last season i added lindstrom and qualls and ended up winning my championship due to SVs. so i say no to punting if its reasonable. but if you can swing broxton for a "buy low" like liriano or peavy i'd have to consider. also gallardo is darn good, so i wouldn't hate that move.

C Sandoval
1B Fielder
2B Roberts
3B Wright
SS Hardy
OF Markakis, Hart, Crispie Young
Utility Jose Lopez
Bench Maybin, Fields, Snider

SP: Peavy, Billingsley
RP: Broxton, Porcello (i dropped Villanueva)
P: Lowe, Kershaw, Zimmerman, Baker

i also stashed Smoltz on DL.

Broxton is on the trading block for a starter. And i already received a offer: Liriano - Broxton. I really like Liriano and this trade is ok with me, i'm just not sure, if i should punt this category.

your starters look pretty strong. i might stand pat with broxton and try to just add closers as the season wears on. or use broxton to trade for an OF.

but liriano for broxton is a decent trade i would say.

a 1 in a category is a good way to lose a league.

make a minor trade for C.Ray, get S.Downs and you'll be just fine.
