RP/OF for better OF

Postby Dingbat » Mon Apr 20, 2009 1:36 pm

A guy in my league is desperate for saves and has a surplus of outfielders he's willing to part with: Hamilton, Bay, Granderson, Victorino, Dunn, and Ibanez. I've got Mariano, Fuentes, Franklin, and Soriano/Hawkins-in-waiting, with Hoffman on my DL, so I'm looking to trade OF+RP for one of his better OFs.

I posted this question a week ago on the main page, and Grey helpfully suggested I offer Fuentes/Ethier for Bay. Since then, the offer has remained unanswered, but my situation has changed, with Vlad going down and Ethier proving to be one of the few productive hitters in my lineup. The season's still young, but I'm currently ranked near the bottom in most offensive categories, while my pitching has been solid. Does this trade still make sense? As an alternative, another guy in my league has Adrian Beltre, Derrek Lee, and Alexei Ramirez on the trading block and is also looking for closers, so I'm considering offering Franklin or Hoffman for Beltre, in order to upgrade my Reynolds 3B situation.

Thanks!

Trade still makes sense. I don't mind that trade for Beltre, I'd offer Franklin first.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Thanks!

Since then, we've had some back-and-forth, and he's up for considering Ibanez for Fuentes. I'm leaning toward doing that instead. Thoughts?

Thanks as always!

And now for something completely different:

I'm interested in buying low on Verlander, and I'd like to offer one of my mid-tier starters in exchange. Keeping in mind that my league counts QS and K/BB, which of the following do you think is the most expendable (yet still would make a reasonable offer):

Matt Cain
Derek Lowe
Jered Weaver
Kenshin Kawakami (a stretch, I know)

C: Evan Gattis
1B: Edwin Encarnacion

Fair enough, but humor me for a moment -- if I absolutely have to have Verlander, which of these guys is most expendable (aside from Kawakami)?
