Just a quick question for everyone (and yes, I know some of you in my league are reading this ):

I trade:

Jesus Montero (0$ this year but 6$ next and then 13$ the following 3)
#7 minor league pick (probably Bundy or J Bell)

I get:

Shelby Miller (minor league)
#5 minor league pick (probably Starling)

I'm pretty weak in Minor League pitching at the moment, but I have Wieters and Mesoraco as my 2 catchers on my major League roster. Just wondering what people thought of the trade.

If you're looking for minor league pitching IMHO Miller is the guy to own. I like him much better than Teheran and his K rate coupled with increasing command is very intriguing. I think he gets a shot at the bigs this year. Given his lackluster division, he could pay immediate dividends. I'm not a big fan of Starling. I think long term his upside is limited in fantasy to being a 20/20 guy at best as his defensive tools are currently what gets the scouts excited. I'm also a Husker fan so maybe it's just sour grapes.

The bloom is off the rose a little bit with Montero heading to Seattle, but I think he can still be a solid professional hitter even if his power suffers a little. He's still a good bet to hit 20 HR with a high average and see more AB than your average catcher.

All in all I think it's a balanced trade. If your power numbers are strong I would opt for Miller.
