I'm in a deep keeper league...like deep, deep Jacque Cousteau pockets deep - 16 teams, 12 keeper years to assign as you see fit plus 8 "homegrown" keeper years to assign to minor leaguers who have graduated to the majors. Here's my current keepers:
Through 2011: Miguel Cabrera
Through 2010:Fransisco Liriano
Through 2009: David Ortiz, Ryan Howard, Rickie Weeks (I beliiieeeve in you, Rickie!), Delmon Young, Erik Bedard, Dollars Burnett, Jonathan Papelbon
Through 2013: Justin Upton
Through 2010: Clay Buchholz
Contracts can be renewed one time, so both Howard and Burnett are only eligible to be signed to one more keeper contract. I've got Cabrera locked up longterm and after this season he's no longer eligible at 3rd, so that would create a logjam with Howard anyway. Burnett I don't care about because a chafing skirt will no doubt send his ass to the DL for at least a few weeks this year and I'm confident I can hang pitching-wise by drafting efficiently. Top SS's still on the draft board are Silent H and Hardy. I'm leaning towards taking this deal because I'd get Reyes for basically his entire prime for the cost of 2 years each of Ryan Howard (who'll be a repetitive position on my roster next year) and AJ Burnett (who can suck the 'B' on my cap), and the jump down to replacement level at SS is so ginormous in my league.
"chafing skirt" -- ha! You should do this trade. It's solid for you. Actually, it's great for you.
