Freak, I noticed you mentioned something about taking WR. I draft 16th overall in this league. I was thinking of going QB/QB/WR/WR in the first 4 rounds. What do you guys think of that?
you'll likely get a top notch QB @ 16, Brees/Peyton/Brady. you dont need 2 of them. While it would put your team a notch above the rest, it could easily kill you. Your starting RBs and WRs would be far less than most others. Take Brady/Brees, and Bernard Pollard could end your fantasy season in the first quarter of week 1. I'd look QB/WR on the first turn. you'll probably have 10 RBs gone, and 2-3 QBs and WRs. I'd assume Brees and Fitz are gone by then. That means you're looking at something like Brady/Peyton and Moss/Calvin/Andre. Any duo out of them would be great to anchor your team around. Brady and Moss probably wont be setting records again, but a 35-15 season is very reasonable if they stay on the field.
Then on the 2nd turn (48/49) i'd look RB/RB. Since it's not a point per reception league, and if you use a pick on the first turn on an elite WR, you dont need 2 WR just yet. plus if you wait til the next turn, you're looking at picks 80/81 before you get your first RB. you need atleast 1 RB after the 3/4 turn...i'd prefer both, especially if you already have an elite QB and WR.
Now this is all dependent on what's left on the board at the 1/2 turn. If the top 3-4 QBs are gone by the time the 1/2 turn comes around, you might be better of going RB/WR or even RB/RB. With 4 QBs gone, you'll be getting a top 8-10 RB, and a few elite WRs will be on the board. RB/RB and your set at the position and can fill out the rest of your starting lineup before looking for a backup. Strategically, probably the easiest way to fill out your team. then you'd be looking at QB/WR the 3/4 and 5/6 turns. As long as you can stay awake for the half hour between each pick, drafting shouldn't be too stressful.
I love that last pick. Drafted 12th last year. Moss/TO, T.Jones/Jacobs, L.White/DMac, Gonzalez/Minny D, DeSean Jackson/Bryant Johnson, Slaton/Ray Rice...remember the draft like it was yesterday. And i can't forget Pierre Thomas/Time Hightower on the 19/20 turn, last 2 picks of my draft were the best 2 picks.
