I am now reading news that Mendenhall could be back Week 1? After blowing out his knee and missing the entire pre-season?

As you can see below, I own Redman and Dwyer. Mendy is currently on my league's waiver wire. Should I pick him up? Who do I drop for him? I would reall rather not own 3 Steelers RB. Should I drop Redman for him? Bush? Anyone?

I'd hold for now unless you want to stash. I think he's still a month away from being cleared for contact and however much longer it takes him to be game ready. Best case, I'd say week 5-6. He might have just been taken off the PUP list to start doing drills to learn the new offense. That's just a guess though.

This latest rotoworld update seems to indicate he has been cleared for contact no?

Beat writer Ed Bouchette isn't buying coach Mike Tomlin's suggestion that Rashard Mendenhall could play in Sunday night's opener at Denver."I don't expect him to play," said Bouchette. "Maybe (Tomlin) just wants to have the Broncos thinking a little bit. ... But maybe (Mendenhall) is coming along a little quicker than they thought." Mendenhall just shed his red non-contact jersey in an impressive Monday practice. We suspect it will be at least another week or two before he's ready for game action.

If he is a week or two away, and Redman is iffy for this week anyway, doesn't that make him a better stash than Redman?

I dropped Redman for Mendy. Redman is not good even when healthy. If Dwyer has a good game this Sunday, Redman is out of the picture completely. If not, I expect Mendy to be back, worst case scenario, after the Steelers week 4 bye week.

I have never owned mendenhal, but my good friend is a steelers fan so I have seen him a lot. As far as I can tell, again without ever owning him or seeing his fantasy numbers, he is mediocre at best even when 100%. I have a feeling that Dwyer is going to take that job, and based on his play at gt he looks like he has huge upside. Just my opinion

I'd have to agree about that Dwyer assessment. It just seems like Dwyer will turn into that back the Stillers love.
