Hey everyone, I "won" first pick in my league's upcoming draft, but I was wondering what others thought about what was the best position to draft from. I'm considering trading spots to something like position 3-5 so that I can still grab a top RB but then not have to pick 2 players at the edge of the snake (which means I usually have to reach in my mocks to grab players I like but know won't be available). Has anyone else thought about this as fellow razzballers not blindly following espn/yahoo rankings?

I like position 4-5 this year. You get the "leftover" of AP, Arian, JC, Ray-Ray, and CJ (if you still have him as a top 5) and you don't have to wait as long for your next pick.

I have the 13th pick in a 14 team league and I'm in cahoots with a fella in the 5th spot that if Ray Rice falls to him, I'm trading him my first(13) and fifth(69) round pick for him. Don't know how smart a move that was, but it gets me Ray-Ray and then I have the 2nd pick in round 2. From what I can tell it would work out to Ray Rice for a top 5 WR and a crappy RB (Addai, Benson, Lynch, Jackson, Grant, etc) Maybe over-paying, but Rice could be the #1 RB this year.

Meh, we'll see, but yea, if you can trade down a spot or so, I would. Unless you are dead-set on one of those top 4-5 guys. Like you think Ray Ray is really gonna bust out this year, or JC Superstar is going to take Thomas Jones out Tonya Harding style, then stick at the top so you know you got heeeeem.

For my particular strategy that I'm trying out this year I prefer pick 7 or 8 in hopes of landing Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson in rounds 1 and 2. Most people still tend to prefer running backs early, though, so for that I'd probably prefer pick 5 as well.
