Was hoping for some feedback regarding draft type and FA acquisition.

Is there perhaps a site that discusses best implementations of these things and carrying the league forward (player contract lengths, salary increases, etc.)?

What's the best site for such a league? ESPN, Flea Flicker, Yahoo? Other?

Feel free to visit our website http://www.njffl.wordpress.com and download the NJFFL Today file. There you will see our entire format, rules, rosters, you name it. If anything you can use it to create your own.

Thanks,
Lawrence

There are so many different ways to run a dynasty that it is hard to give exact advice. No matter what there will be growing pains and evolution. I think the league should have a say in hat happens just so people feel like they are heard, but the commish still needs to be able to make executive decisions.

I am using yahoo and My Fantasy Leagues. MFL costs though.

doc, do you know of a good resource for a basic introduction to this type of league? a guide for the implications of different league settings so that you can at least get started knowing you've picked rules that are well suited to the group of owners you've got and their level of commitment?

particularly i'm curious about how the league dynamic is affected by:

for example keeper vs. dynasty,
having a rookie draft or not
whether to have salaries
auction vs. snake

anyone else who has experience and opinions on starting up dynasty leagues, i'd love to hear. especially about pitfalls that should be easily avoided and so forth.

Bump to CarlosZ's question.

I just joined a startup league and it looks like the scoring system is set pretty well, but the rosters are a mess. For example, there's only 1 RB spot and a flex. But there's 12 defensive spots. I like the idea of having individual defensive players but that seems a bit excessive to me.

What's the best way to set the lineups? One RB spot is obviously not enough. What's the best way to do this?

I prefer 2 RB slots with a flex which could make it 3. 1 QB. 3 WR. 1 TE. 1 K. No team defense in an IDP.

I've seen weird IDP leagues where people want to make defense the focus, but that's not my thing. It really depends on the overall focus of the league.

Yea, it doesn't even look right on the team page.

How many defensive players do you recommend and how should they be split as far as DL or DB?

Thanks

Yeah, 12 seems a bit high. I've played with 3 DE/DT, 3 LB, 3 CB/S
