Starting a new Fantasy League at ESPN ... H2H .... changes made weekly.

Traditionally we have used no waiver wire .... first in gets the prize pick up.

I wanted to move to a waiver wire this year because we have people in a number of different time zones and thought it may level the playing field a little.

What I am worried about is how the waiver wire impacts the weekly team selection usually on a Sunday night. If the waiver wire is set to 1 day .... does this mean if you want to pick up a player coming off the DL or coming up from the minors .... that you won't be able to use this person until the waiver wire limit (1 day) has expired ? Essentially meaning that player will not be available for the upcoming week as the Waiver limit will expire on Monday ?

Also in the event your shortstop gets injured on the Sunday and you don't have one on your bench then you won't be able to pick one up off the waiver until a full week has passed leaving you with one fielding position on the DL.

Unless I'm misunderstanding how it works, the waiver is really suitable for daily leagues not weekly leagues, or at least for weekly leagues will work OK when picking up players up to Friday/Saturday.

But they will only go into your lineup if you're the first person in the Waiver queue that wants the player ?

Otherwise you miss out and you won't have your replacement ?

As far as I understand it, for Monday-Monday leagues, the waiver needs to have been processed by Sunday, basically meaning that if it takes one day, you have to have made the request on Saturday.

But this should only apply to those players on waivers, and not free agents, so you shouldn't worry about it so much. If you have a player get injured Sunday, you just pick someone out of the pool of free agents. Free agents should always be first-come, first-served.

Now, assuming that free agents are first-come, first served, and only those players who have recently been added to the free agent pool (either through a team dropping them or them rising out of the minors for the first time) are subject to the waiver rules, you are very, very unlikely to run into the situation you are concerned about.

What I was missing was the difference between the waiver and the free agent pool.
