Ryan Braun

Postby Frank Rizzo » Thu Mar 26, 2009 6:31 am

Anyone else nervous about Braun? Read this yesterday on Rotowire...

Mar 25 Braun left Wednesday's spring training game after just two innings due to a setback to his intercostal strain, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. "I'm fine," said Braun. "I continue to treat it. It's not 100% but I'm fine."
Recommendation: Braun said he didn't ask out of the game, but the coaching staff wanted him not to play after he said he wasn't at full strength. It sounds like Braun wanted to play even though he's not ready, which puts his status for Opening Day a bit in doubt. He played with the injury during the World Baseball Classic.

I passed on Sizemore to take Braun in my draft, now I'm nervous about that 1st round investment. It's in the same area as his injury last year. What should we expect? I know he's playing through it but maybe I shouldn't plan on Bill "glass is overflowing" James' predictions for the Hebrew Hammer.

Frank I'm in the same boat and I'm pissed. Well he was one of my 8 keepers. Our draft is tomorrow...after that's done I am going to take the best offer I can for him, because this is not going to go away. This is going to linger all year and will hamper his hitting. Healthy he's good for 40 homers 120 rbi probably, but if I can deal him for someone like Carlos Lee I will do it, because Braun right now is a ticking time bomb that can go off at any moment and put him out for weeks. I don't need that in the back of my head all summer. I know his upside is amazing, but I would rather get a consummate hitter that delivers every year and has no injury history.

Are you serious? Cutting bait? I'm getting nervous here. Nothing but gloom and doom about my prize 1st rounder.
