Jun 12 The Associated Press reports Seattle Mariners CL J.J. Putz (elbow) will not be used this weekend after he was diagnosed with a hyperextended elbow. He also had triceps tendon inflammation and an irritated ulnar nerve. The Mariners have decided against placing him on the 15-day disabled list for now. He will be re-evaluated Monday, June 16.

Yeah I just posted that on the Liriano comments. I wanted the roster spot for Headley, Liriano is already gone in the league I have Putz in.

I'm still not convinced that Putz can stay off the DL. Not only has he been horrible, but a "hyperextended elbow" doesn't sound good. And "irritated ulnar nerve" makes me think of Huston Street's constant 2007 problems. Josh Johnson, too. If the Ms were pressed for roster space, they probably would have DL'd him right away. Instead they keep pushing the decision a couple of days (first to today, now to Monday).

I agree with you Peter, but I don't think you can drop him based on a hunch. If the M's make a move then obviously its time to cut bait and go to Hooters. Or wherever it is you go for beer and booty shorts.

The Ulnar nerve is a scary thing to mess with, its not exactly like he banged his funny bone. I'm hoping this is a mild version and not a JJ issue. Or if it is a JJ issue I'd like to know before Monday, please.

I picked up Headley with the DL spot, I hope the rumor about him coming up this weekend is true.

On Monday the last of my players from the great injury plague of Spring '08 came off the DL. I knew it was too good to last. Well I felt lonely without that little red DL icon anyways.
