My weekly h2h league uses the following pitching stats: IP, W, CG, SHO, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP.
I currently start 5 starters and 2 closers, but was thinking about slotting closers and middle relievers as my 3 non-SPs.
So I would go from:
SP-Lackey
SP-Peavy
RP- Rivera
RP-Broxton
P-Guthrie
P-Lester
P-Nolasco
To something like:
SP-Lackey
SP-Peavy
RP-Rivera
RP-Broxton
P- Kuo
P- Fuentes
P- (Someone else for HLDs, such as Arredondo, Taylor Buchholz, Balfour, Carrasco, JC Romero, Gaudin, Scott Downs, Matt Lindstrom, Manny Corpas, etc.)
To set up this experiment I will have to drop Galarraga, who scares me anyhow.
So, considering the stats we count, is this plan worth a try, or is basically punting IP, W, CG, SHO and likely Ks giving too much for a chance to dominate ERA, WHIP, SV, HLD, and K/BB?
I guess it's a plan worth trying if you're losing with what you have going now. So are you? Why the change? However, I do agree about Galarraga. I don't like his chances for success. Though I haven't liked them for two months and he continues to pitch well.
