In NL Only, especially in keeper leagues, this is someone to consider adding... and here's why:
Emilio Bonifacio, the guy that the Nats traded Jon Rauch for, will be recalled today after Felipe Lopez was DFA'd. This means a 2B with rediculous speed and decent average is about to be called up not named Velez. If you're sitting there with Ryan Theriot at the MI slot as I am right now, why screw around with that, when you can get .280 average, a bunch of runs and a potential 40 sb next year with Bonifacio?
Think Eric Young, but without the annoying commentary. Some of his stats are here:
http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?pl ... osition=OFSome things to be cautious of... he strikes out a lot and doesn't walk much, but who cares if he gets you 40sb? Over 551 AB in 2007 in AA, he stole 41 bases, hit .285 and had 84 runs. Worst case scenario, he becomes Eugenio Velez and pisses you off. Best case scenario, he gets 35 steals/80 runs/.280, leading off at 2B next year. Pretty good MI production.
I leave you with a map of the former Eastern Bloc nation of Czechoslovakia for no reason at all.
