Any of these OF decent bets for the rest of the year?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Any of these OF decent bets for the rest of the year?

Postby OPSRex » Mon Jul 21, 2008 12:07 pm

Scott Hairston
Matt Joyce
Ryan Sweeney

I need to replace Hideki Matsui in my OF. The rest of my lineup is solid. I basically need someone who will play almost everyday and make modest contributions the rest of the year.

I can't believe I'm recommending him, but I'd give Hairston a shot.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

I was leaning that way. My only concern is he sat the first games after the break in favor of Jody Gerut with the Pads were facing a righty. Is he really in a strict platoon with Jody Gerut? I really need Tulo to put up nice numbers the next few days so I can ship him off for a solid OF.

Hairston's hit a HR in nearly every third game this month for the Padres that's like Babe Ruth shizz, so I'd grab Hairston until he gets cold. He may sit occasionally against a tough righty but that shouldn't stop you while he's hot.

I had both Hairston and Joyce in my lineup today due to the light schedule. They went a combined 6-9 with 2 HR, 6 RBI and 5 runs scored. That almost makes up for the HR and 4 RBI I lost by dropping Weeks a day early. I might keep Joyce and Hairston in my lineup for the next few days to see how things shake out. Hitting behind a suddenly hot Miguel Cabrera has helped Joyce. He has some nice power numbers in the minors. Any chance he can continue to be useful against RHP?

He's hot and he has the better side of the platoon. Definitely worth riding while hot.

GO WITH SWEENEY! He's Johnny Damon the rest of the way. 8HR, 10sb, 40/35, .300.

"Flood" Sweeney is from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and he's been known to keep his head above water.

Too soon?
