Masterson worth a try vs. D-backs?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Postby Frank Rizzo » Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:00 am

Picked up Masterson and I'm starting against the D-backs tonight.

Is there something I'm missing? This looks like a good start to me.

D-Backs swing and miss a lot, but if they connect they can do some damage. It's risky, but has upside.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

Speaking of Masterson, what's everyone's take on him staying in the rotation? Even with the small sample size, I think he'd be an upgrade over at least one of the schmohawks on my pitching staff. But he needs to stay in the rotation to make it worthwhile...

If he DOES stay in the rotation:

- do you like him more than Parra (who is now looking like a start-at-home-only kind of guy)?

- do you like him more than Jo-Jo (who is now looking like a start-away-only kind of guy)?

Do you trust Bartolo Colon to stay healthy? Is Masterson listed as a better prospect than Bucholz?

If you want, I'd try him instead of Jo-Jo, but I like Parra (and to a certain extent Jo-Jo) more than Masterson. Might end up being a push for all three.
