Soto

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Soto

Postby fitchp » Wed Jun 03, 2009 9:10 am

Geovany Soto got dropped in my keeper league. Worth putting in a waiver claim, or was he a one-hit wonder as a rookie?

Thanks!

You don't need him.

Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.

I know I don't really need him now, but I'm thinking more towards stashing him as a keeper for next year. Would that be worth it, or a big risk?

I'd prefer him over Nick Johnson, Madson or Wheeler, but you're going to have two catchers? It's going to clog up your whole team.

If I do grab Soto, I'd hope for a hot streak and trade either him or Napoli. I guess my real question should be, where does Soto fit in terms of 2010 catchers? Top 5? Top 10? Unknown to this point?

Unknown, he could hit 12 homers after the break and look fine. But in the big picture, 12 homers doesn't really matter.

So I ended up picking up Soto last week, so I'm carrying both him and Napoli. Napoli is frustrating, because it's so unpredictable when he starts, and he's been struggling badly lately when he does. I'm hoping for a hot streak from Soto, so I can deal one of them, but so far, not much happening.

Who will be better for the rest of the year? I'm also in a keeper league, so if Soto does finish strong, I can consider him as a keeper for next year.

Thoughts?

After what Soto has done so far, you might want to keep him? Bleh. He's just a catcher. Trade him for something and move on.
