Got to Have 2B Help

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Got to Have 2B Help

Postby shill » Wed Apr 17, 2013 8:14 am

I hate to keep going here, but Espinosa is killing me at 2B! I have been playing a man down for almost a week here, and its almost like I am a man down even when he is the line up. Again, I know its early, but I hate losing! After a win in week 1 i was demolished last week and down 6-0 so far this week. Not all on Espinosa, but I need some help! Hereis whats available:

D Murphy
Getz
H Kendrick
Valdespin

I guess if I am being honest, I am not sold on Infante being "on fire." No doubt he has had a few good games, but he is 1 for his last 12 and has nothing but singles so far on the season, not 1 extra base hit on the season! I am a Braves fan and I liked Infante when he was with them as well, but he just doesnt show me much upside, 0 HRs, 0 extra base hits, 0 SBs, only 4 RBIs and 5 Rs on the season. Maybe I just have to punt 2B and hope Espinosa shows some sign of life at some point.

Just took a stroll through the FAs in my league at 2B again, looking at stats and whats been done lately. I think based on that I would narrow this list to the following. Who to you grab or do you continue to wait on Espinosa to wake from this coma?

D Murphy (1B and 2B elig, hitting .340 with 2 HRs)
Getz (6 hits in last 5 games, 2 doubles and a homer included)
N Walker (10 hits in last 5 games, 1 double, 1 HR, and 6 RBIs included)
M Carpenter (Elig at 1B,2B,3B,OF, hitting .296 but slowed a little lately)

Hitting - OBP, SLG, HR, RBI, SB, R

I think Murphy is underrated. Good contact skills which leads to a high avg and good counting stats. I would prefer him from anyone on the list and this is coming from an Infante owner. Though Infante is probably my second choice. I think when you get this deep at 2B you are looking for someone who will be serviceable and won't kill your BA. Either Murphy or Infante fit the bill.
C: Rosario
C: Martin
1b: Goldschmidt
2b: Infante
SS: Segura
3b: Ramirez, Ar
MI: Simmons
CO: Freeman
OF: McCutchen, Adam Jones, Aoki, Cuddyer, Hunter Pence
UT: Arenado, David Murphy
Bench: Ramos, Rendon, Duda, Rutledge, Johnson, C

SP: Wainwright, Scherzer, Samardzija, Niese, Burnett, Maholm, Gee, Doubront, Gerrit Cole, Cingrani, Volquez, Wacha, Gausman
RP: Wilhelmsen / Holland

12 Team roto league standard categories with IP replacing K's. FA acquisitions limited to 10 pickups (3 remaining) all season.
