Keeper Help

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Keeper Help

Postby larryjoebird » Tue Mar 12, 2013 6:14 pm

Need to keep 10. I think my first 8 are set.

I am thinking Medlen and Pence, although I am tempted by Fowler (this is an OPS league and Cargo doesn't have CF eligibility in Yahoo) or Ike. The League is converting from 12 to 10 teams so the draft will have a lot more depth than usual.

Three questions:
1. Thoughts on the last 2 spots?

2. Was offered Bourn for Pence?

3. Should I make a pre keeper deadline run for D. Wright by offering Headley +1? Who is the other player? Guy who has Wright needs depth.

1. B. Butler
2. I. Kinsler
3. C. Headly
4. J. Reyes
5. G. Stanton
6. C. Gonzalez
7. Cain
8. Bumgardner

9.
10.

I would take the deal, giving away Pence for Bourn...straight up that's better value in 2013 and in the future.

I would then keep Medlen and Bourn.

That would leave you with Stanton - RF, Bourn - CF, Cargo - LF

I would then offer Headley (and one or two other players from your non-keepers) to get Wright.

Headley + Ike and/or Skaggs and/or Niese

If you provided the roster for the Wright owner, might help with some possible suggestions on an offer that improves both your squads...but...

..with Bourn, Stanton, Cargo and Headley...you have a well-balanced roster...I wouldn't touch your roster to get Wright unless you kept that balance.

You don't need Cespedes and Profar will start the year in the minors. Who knows what the future holds for Profar holds for this season. He'll come up at some point, but if the Rangers don't trade away Andrus (or do something) he will be a utility guy.

Reyes is a top tier SS playing in a hitter friendly park with a stacked team and a better atmosphere than he had in Miami. You will be hard-pressed to replace Reyes (this year).

I wouldn't do the deal. Let this guy keep Cespedes and Profar and then pick up the guy he needs to drop...perhaps.

Hopefully you make the playoffs, but if you don't you can always pick up Profar later. In a 10-team mixed league, your team should be competitive. I would only be dealing old guys that are on the downslide to stash a guy like Profar.

Regardless, I would wait things out.
